Fading Crab Blossoms

I don't know how I missed the best days of the apple blossoms, I was so surprised to see how faded they were when I got out the camera today.  

A fellow blipper (Subjunctive) gave me some ideas about softening the look of flowers in a very low tech way, with a bit of vaseline on the protective filter, which I finally tried today.  I think I need a little more practice, but varying amounts and the results are in the extras.
