PLAN B.....
.... went down to the Penrith Observatory at the Western Sydney Uni tonight with a plan to catch the "blue moon" a bonus full moon in the cycle!
However, due the wonderful autumn day again (24 deg C) and no wind the RFS were continuing their work of hazard reduction burn offs. So, a sky full of smoke all day. Thought no chance of the moon (PLan A) being clear, so will hit a sunset (Plan B) prior.
Check the second extra for the sunset around 15 minutes before sundown. The cloud effect was amazing. After sundown the sky went grey and thought show over!!??
Then around 15 minutes after the sky lit up again, and from why I do not know, these crepuscular rays just added a bonus to the scene. The cloud movement must have blocked the sun just after sundown, then opened up for this show.
Enjoy, and have a look in LARGE
... oh, and check the smoky "blue moon" in extra, the bright star above is a red mars .
