Alnwick roof tops
One of those days when you aim to do a lot, but get distracted, and the whole day goes out of kilter...
After the usual weekend domestic stuff, and reading through some paperwork, MrM and I set off for for the DIY shop near Alnwick to buy some wood and one or two other essentials. It was a lovely day, so we stopped at Powburn en route for a walk by the lakes with Louie. And then stopped in the centre of Alnwick and wandered around the market, by which time it was past lunchtime, so a little snacklet was in order to tide MrM us over. We stumbled across Strawberry Lounge, where they sell the a variety of the most amazing (and filling) scones - I can report that the pear, ginger and honey scones are delicious! MrM enjoyed a piece of home-made lemon cake.
Back home to a few more little chores and, by our usual meal time, neither of us was particularly hungry, so a small snack sufficed before setting off for a local charity concert. MrM had agreed to play a short medley of tunes there, before realising that it would mean missing the second half of the cup final on TV! As a Man. U fan, he was a little peeved - but at least they won, and it was on Match of the Day later on!
It wouldn't have been politic to leave the concert after MrM had played, as intended, so we stayed until the end, by which time we were both hungry. And shared a portion of fish & chips - not conducive to a good night's sleep, methinks!
