Precious Beauty
Very fortunate today to see a precious beauty - the Marsh Fritillary butterfly.
This is not a common species and is the subject of many conservation efforts. It likes damp meadows especially in calcarious areas. Its special food plant is Devil's-bit- scabious.
Although it is hiding down in the grassland it kept staying still for some time and members of our group were able to get some good shots.
My extra is a ?.....?....? Have to wait until Mrs. K. Gets back from visiting one of our group who is in hospital before I can be certain of giving you the right name. It also has a tiny visitor.
