Hill Top Ramblings

Pearl bordered fritillary

The butterfly transect continues, with a rather lovely afternoon today helping the little beauties on the wing. We were lucky enough to find this one resting, as they rarely stop long enough to photograph.
Sadly, they are becoming increasingly scarce and Howe Ridding is one of the few sites in Cumbria where they are still regularly seen.
The greater butterfly orchids are in bud, and there were a few dingy skippers, otherwise rather quiet.
