Rubh'an Teampaill

Today's the day ......................... for a medieval chapel

There's a lovely walk from the little settlement of Northton to the small headland of Rubh'an Teampaill.

Here, a small roofless, late medieval chapel stands in apparent isolation next to a pristine beach.  It's only 7m by 3m and was lit by a single slit window in each of the walls.  Outside, a stone-faced wall enclosed the graveyard which has probably been in use since Viking times or earlier. 

It is thought that the church was built over the foundations of an Iron Age broch....................
