Budva

We went into Budva today. It is one of the first settlements in Montenegro; it was probably founded by the Ancient Greeks and then built on again by the Romans. The Old Town has been restored following a massive earthquake 1979 and it is pretty impressive.
A fortress protected the city and its ramparts now host a summer of theatre, poetry and music. This shot shows the seating area and behind it the Church of St Ivan.
There is a storm threatened tonight and tomorrow. We ate at a beachside fish restaurant and watched the lightning across the bay. As we walked back the heavens opened and we got a bit wet. Let's hope it blows itself out soon.
