Bird Ringing
G, M and I went to a lovely Bird Fair on Sunday at Mannington Gardens where I was completely intrigued by a demonstration of bird ringing. We saw a female chaffinch and a greenfinch go through the process. It involves catching the birds in mist nets, measuring and weighing them (see extras) as well as ringing them and releasing them. The guys doing the demonstration would kindly hold the bird up for G and I to take a photo.
The British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) relies on people reporting ringed birds on www.ring.ac so please help if you see one and can record the ring number.
