Parched already

On Sunday our lawn was hacked to death.... OK so the truth is the blade is now ruined after I cut the lawn a month back... so it was hacked not mown! But it was 6" long and very wet at the time and now 2 days later its parched. I should have said leave it
and it will be ok till we get a new blade and it MIGHT have stayed green then!
