Putting the "fun" into funeral
He had resigned himself to never appearing on Desert Island Discs but, to make up for this, he had spent hours continually updating his final and definitive playlist. The set of songs to be played at his funeral and which would confirm his impeccable taste. Yes, he had a Beatles track, but it was Rain rather than Yesterday. Miles Davies was represented by an alternative take from “Kind of Blue”. And, of course, there was The Fall.
His widow, after years of having her musical tastes dismissed as shallow took her revenge. And so the mourners were treated to Unchained Melody, Seasons in the Sun and Hi-Ho Silver Lining.
