Sceach
Growing up in West Cork, I never knew the word "whitethorn'. We always called this by its name in Irish — "sceach".
I noticed today that its delicate flowers are in full bloom and showing themselves off in the breeze and sunshine mix we have today.
It was a nice day for a mix of First Communion practises, brushing up fallen foliage around the place in advance of a large devotional crowd tonight, and finalising plans for a wedding and a procession at the weekend.
