The present's bright

The present's Orange (to paraphrase an advertising slogan)!

This morning, after looking round the huge Roman theatre there, we left Vienne and headed south to Orange, where we're spending the next five nights. The Vienne theatre was amazing. Work on rebuilding it has been carrying on continuously since 1922! Workmen were still busy there today as we climbed to the top of the arena that will hold 11,000 spectators. Each July the open-air theatre is used for performances during a two-week-long jazz festival.

Now, in Orange, we look forward to seeing, amongst other things, what is described as the world's best preserved Roman theatre.

En route we passed troglodyte cave dwellings and hedgerows sporting a soft purpley flower. More are blooming close to where we're staying - as in my collage here. Anyone know what they are? The bright pink flower is new to me, too - though I suspect it might be a relative of willow herb - while the yellow is, of course, broom.

By the way, someone has suggested that the noisy frogs that I blipped recently, might actually be natterjack toads!
