New Rose
Funny day at work. This morning I was heading toward the elevator at 11:30 a.m. to go to a physical therapy appointment. The elevator opened and then went dark inside and then closed. We had a complete loss of power in the entire building. I walked down the 17 flights of stairs determined to make my appointment. When I got outside, the entire downtown core was without power. It was sort of amazing to see all the people wandering around and the dark windows. My appointment was canceled. I walked to the market and then returned to work by that time we only had to wait about 10 minutes before the power came on again - about an hour total. Evidently a substation went down. At least 11 people were trapped in elevators all over the city - the fire department was busy extricating them. After having work until 10:00 pm the night before I was sort of dazed anyway. A funny occurrence - the guy who works in the parking garage is from Etruria and he says they have power outages practically every day and some time lasting for weeks. So an hour without power is not such a big deal.
