A drive up to Northamptonshire this morning to meet my sister and Steve to sort the remainder of Mum's things. My car is now loaded full of books, photos, family history notes and kitchen-ware! I feel rather guilty that I have not got Mum's mind for literature and social history. I enjoy the latter very much but Mum could read great tomes that I am not sure I would have the thirst to read. Anyway, I now have some interesting books to read on topics such as the history of the British countryside and place names in our landscape, on woodlands, on the building of the London Underground and the history children's playground games.
