1959 LES PAUL
Quite a battle today - to get the neck off this old lady. As presented, she was perfectly unplayable.
Some cowboy had re-set her neck - at the wrong angle - and using the wrong glue. We came across several more serious botches along the way...
We drilled 2mm holes in strategic places & employed our long-suffering cappuccino machine to shoot steam through a 2mm tube through these holes.
Nada!
Plan B - Brute Force & Ignorance Intelligence... I began hammering one of my table (extra) knives into the join behind the neck - CC blasted steam into every available orifice - and - little by little it began to give - slowly, slowly catchy monkey...
The blackness is due to the reaction of good old-fashioned steel reacting with mahogany & steam...
