2016 Friday -- The Cass House

Cass House is possibly the most famous residence in the little cowboy-surfer town of Cayucos on California's Central Coast.

We stopped there today just to walk around the property and look at the improvements. Tracy, one of the owners, stepped out of the building named "the Bakery" to greet us and tell us a little about the progress on this recent restoration. Tracy, along with her sister, also owns "The Brown Butter Cookie Company."

Tracy told us "the Grill" and "the Bakery" will have their grand opening on Thursday, June 2nd. That's exciting.

Captain James Cass had his house built in 1867. It has been added onto at least once since then. In recent years it has been renown as a restaurant and hotel.

Cass was the man who recognized Cayucos as a place to have a shipping wharf, so in 1872 he built the original wharf, which later was extended into a deep water pier.

Cayucos has some interesting history.
