I tried to help...

I spent the day looking at some the fastest and most expensive examples of my car's marque at a meeting, hanging with people that have spent $100,000, $200,000 and more on these beauties.
Tonight, though, I wanted to be alone to think and dream. As I ate my dinner, a nice pizza and garlic bread, a homeless man I'd noticed last night in the same area walked past. I caught his eye, and I made my mind up almost instantly. I only finished half of my meal, boxed it up and went in search of him. I finally found him a few blocks away, huddled on a doorstop out of the cold.
I startled him when I woke him. He told me he'd just eaten when I offered him my food, and he assured me he was good. I told him that it'd mean a great deal to me to be able to help, so he suggested another place where others, down on their luck, might be found.
I walked on, and found a man, who looked at me suspiciously when I appeared as he was readying a makeshift bed for the night on some cold slate tiles. I told him the little I could offer to help and he said "I'd really appreciate that..." I shook his hand and asked him to look after himself. He said "thank you, brother" and I walked away.
In this world of excess, I'm so much better off than most.
I am broken tonight.
Peace.
