Camel Trail
For the first time in years we went on holiday without our bikes. However a week and a half without wheels was proving too much for the addicts and we decided to hire bikes for the day.
Cycled along the Camel Trail from Wadebridge to Padstow, only 10 miles round trip but it was a delightful route along the side of the river Camel. A warm, muggy day with the smirr pretty constant throughout the run and becoming proper rain once we reached the coast, where we joined the hoardes of people traipsing around Padstow.
We decided to visit the National Lobster Hatchery as we have one near us in Orkney. A great wee place to visit and find out about lobsters and shellfish in general, doing a great job of keeping the stocks up and lots of small lobster boats in business - not to mention filling the plates of those who enjoy lobster for their tea. They were very keen to discuss the hatchery in Orkney and it was nice to have a chat about the similarities and differences of life at the other end of the British islands.
