Patterns in Stone

This is one of the surviving walls of Kelso Abbey. A lot of it has gone, thanks to war, religious upheavals and being a handy place to get your building materials.

The sunshine today brought out some of its old glory, and hundreds of rallying scooterists, socialising outside the pubs and spilling into the graveyard, a good place for a rest.

I think I could be inspired to knit a hat based on the patterns in this stonework, but I'll probably have forgotten by the time woolly hat weather comes around.
