Portuguese

The first day of the conference went smoothly. No major problems - everyone seems happy.

After the workshops were over we started the ice breaker in the JMCC bar. It looked like we might be short on numbers, but within no time it filled up.

One sponsor organised a silly game, getting us to line up in alphabetical order without speaking (by looking at name badges). A prize for the winner and an "I am Craig Wright" T-shirt for the first person to speak.

Meanwhile people signed up for "Dinner with a stranger". I'd booked tables at 20+ local restaurants and they just had to put their name on the list for the restaurant they wanted to go to.

I went to 'O Canto Do Passarinho', a Portuguese place, and ended up with a large posse of Portuguese & Brazilians, a pair of academics from Preston and a couple of Scandinavians (one called Stig pictured get).

I'd wanted the fish stew, but it was finished, so ordered some sort of steak sandwich. It was more like a cheese toasty with steak, smoked sausage and chorizo filling. On top was a fried egg and a prawn, and it was served swimming in a soup of bolognese sauce. Very strange and very filling - not easy to sleep after eating.
