Boston Birthday Bonanza

Today marks the 65th anniversary of Mr. W's Grand Entrance into this world, and we celebrated in the best possible way -- with the help of our son Tom, his wife Kristin, and our adorable 2 year-old grandson Elliott, who came in to Boston to make the day just perfect!

Elliott gave his "Poppy" some very special presents which he picked out himself -- two racer cars and a truck, as well as a plastic octopus, walrus, crab, turtle, dolphin, shark, lobster, and stingray.  There was also a huge bunch of shiny birthday balloons, and a dizzying array of cupcakes and pastries, all served on Spiderman plates with matching napkins!

We took a long stroll on Boston Common, and visited the Frog Pond, the playground, and the carousel.  Elliott really enjoyed his first ever ride on a very glamourous zebra.  Then we strolled over to the Public Garden, and made friends with the bronze statues of the famous Mrs. Mallard and her young family from the book Make Way For Ducklings, and then visited with some real ducks and geese and watched the Swan Boats ply the lake.

Tomorrow morning, we're all going to visit the Aquarium!
