Scrapheap
Today, we went to Tekapo to play in the snow.
There wasn't any snow in the town, but there was on Mt John, which overlooks it. The road to Mt John is private, and when we got to the entrance, the gate was open, so we proceeded. We were almost at the top when we got stuck in the snow ( a car coming down the hill didn't stop to let us pass, which forced us to move over, into the snow, and stop). Some kind people helped us push the car out of the snow, and we continued to the top. Once there, we discovered the car park empty (it had a few inches of snow on it, untouched) and the cafe closed. Then a man with a large spade (he's been shoveling snow) walked up to us and told us the road was closed, and we had to leave. Turns out, they had closed the gate - but not locked it - and some wally had opened it again.
It was a very strange experience.
The extra photo is of Lake Tekapo.
I photographed this old rusty truck on the way home, at Raincliff, and is my entry for Derelict Sunday.
