Patience rewarded

I wish I could have been closer to the heron but up at the loch they tend to stay on the island or up at the far end near the wee nature reserve where it's difficult to find a good viewing area. I balanced on a couple of large stones at the edge of the water and just watched this heron. His concentration was incredible as he watched and waited for the right moment to dive for the fish ..... but what a tiny fish he caught! He'll need to catch a few more for his lunch.
