Scampi/Spanky
This is Scampi. She belongs to my sister-in-law Sarah and her husband Alastair. She has had an interesting life. She hails from Sri Lanka where Sarah and Alastair found her as a neutered stray: the clipped ear is an indication that she had been spayed. Sarah and Alistair decided to 'rescue' the poor pooch so she came to live with them in the UK a couple of years ago. Scampi's other interesting feature is her lack of left hind leg. This was already damaged when she was found, and later had to be amputated. Scampi's a funny wee creature, but very well behaved - as can be seen in yesterday's family portrait.
After last night's fun meal out Mr hazelh's mother accidentally called the dog 'Spanky', which we all thought was hilarious. However, this was not as funny as the telephone conversation that my father-in-law had with a member of the bar staff at the yacht club who rang to say that he had left his debit card behind after the meal. My father-in-law thought that he was speaking to (his daughter) Sarah, questioned why she had bothered to ring him, and barked down the phone that she should just bring the debit card home for him. The poor girl on the other end had to explain that returning lost goods was not part of her job description!
We enjoyed more family time in the garden today until mid-afternoon, after which we all set off on our respective journeys home. Mr hazelh and I were lucky to have caught the BA flight from Gatwick back to Edinburgh: the EasyJet flight was diverted to Glasgow due to heavy fog.
It's been a great weekend and we're already looking forward to the next family celebration.
Exercise today: just a little airport walking.
