A last look at the swans before I head north again tomorrow.
They are quite a draw. Got chatting to someone who confirmed that the cygnets did hatch yesterday, and there are three of them. He told me that this is the second clutch of eggs for this pair, as they were bothered by foxes at their first nest, so moved to this spot.
He also said that someone had seen the heron take a duckling, and while we were there it had a go at one duck's sole remaining duckling, but the ducks saw it off...it was also very interested in the cygnets, as were the crows.
It seems so tranquil by the water...saw a kingfisher today too...but it's a bit of a battleground if you are a bird...
