Sure sign of summer

When you hear the distant hum of tractor and mower all afternoon, you know someone somewhere close is cutting silage. We cut our first field last weekend, now a neighbour is following suit.There is something peculiarly nostalgic about the sight of rows of mown grass... although there won't be many horse drawn trailers piled high with hay to be thrown up onto haystacks - just a lot of black plastic bales in the field!
