Memorial weekend

I walked all around the Old City Cemetary in Paris, Tennessee to pay my respects for Memorial Day. It is a gorgeous place with many lives lived before 1850. This is the headstone of the son of the famous Davy Crockett. He, like his father, served in the Tennessee senate, lived in New Orleans as editor of the local newspaper and made his final resting place (alongside his daughter) in the Paris cemetery. It is notable in these old cemeteries how many infants and small children are buried in the family plots. The medical community has made amazing strides in keeping children healthy, a thing to be truly grateful for this weekend.
