The New Pier

I was at the opening of the new pier in Tighnabruaich this morning.

I remember the old pier which was fast deteriorating when I first was on it 20 years ago. Eventually it became unusable and as it was a good way of encouraging boats to stop at the village and visit the shops and other facilities it has been missed .

The new pier, made of interlocking units which float , has been entirely funded by local people and has been greatly assisted by the RNLI whose station and slipway give access to it.

The opening was very well attended , thanks at least in part to the fabulous weather.
