Iris Siberica....

This, Iris Siberica, is one of my favourite plants. I love the depth of the blue in the flowers. It does come from Siberia but it also found widespread across Central Asia and into Europe as far west as France. It never managed to naturally make it to the UK, that little stretch of water between us and France stopped it getting here. We have brought it in for our gardens and it's very happy in Manchester. I'm sure if it escapes our gardens it would soon get a hold in our countryside. It's quite prolific and all of our neighbours have clumps that we have gifted/forced upon them.

I was really pleased with this picture that has caught all the intricate details of the flowers.
