Highly Unsprung

The hero returns

And relax. He's home. Safe. And more importantly, happy. "Big news!" he said, "two massive things to tell you mum". Ooh, I thought, he's got a job as a national geographic photographer after all even though he's 14, or maybe, just maybe, he met Thor and now Thor is coming to stay. Or perhaps I got the golden ticket and we are moving to the chocolate factory in Brugge. Or maybe the key to the Black Forest Gateaux cake shop?? None of the above as it happens.

1. He went on a roller coaster... More than one roller coaster...several times. If you know Sam you will know this is momentous news. He has always just watched as his crazy sister roller coasted off. But now, he is a master, even though he's so thin he nearly slipped out of the harness (but it's best I don't think about that too much...MASSIVE PARENTAL WORRY ALERT right there).

2. He ate pizza. Now to every one else age 14 it would be unusual to NOT eat pizza but Sam never has, hates cheese, hates tomato sauce. Turns out peer pressure saved the day...so he ate pizza....and liked it.

I opened his case....it was okay, I'm still suspicious why that might be....maybe he just wore the same clothes for 7 days straight. But who cares anyways because he's happy and full of news and has done England, France, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands in one fell swoop.

In other news, Tess returned late into the evening from an Activities day trip to Edinburgh Dungeon, Hard Rock Cafe and the National Museum. But we can't gloat about these trips. No indeed. Because Dave is still sore at his only school trip...to a northern Irish folk museum, mwhahahahahaha. Almost as up there as the Newtonmore Dancing waters in Aviemore, once seen, never forgotten, not in a good way, including the musty damp smell and the Werthers original coach parties......
