Mono Monday - Art
Martyn was here this morning painting the front of the house so we took ourselves off for an early coffee. Nero was busy so we went to the RSC theatre to check out the newly re-opened Swan Bar. I've blipped this place before when it reminded me of a London gentlemens club, all wood panelling and leather chairs. They've softened it a bit, replacing the leather with upholstered chairs and doing away with the sofas but the character of the place is still there with its original panelling and parka floor.
After coffee we went upstairs to the Paccar Room where there is an art exhibition based around some of Shakespeare's quotes. I was taken by a crown which was designed by Soraya Syed, an English classically trained Islamic calligrapher and artist (thank you Wiki). I can't track down which is the relevant quote but it's from Henry IV Part II Act 4 Scene 2. I preferred the colour version so have added it as an extra.
The mono Monday submission is some street art we passed on the way into town, not as interesting as a Banksy, but impressive in its own way.
