Life with The Pinks

By suzypink

Goodbye

Today we said our final goodbye to Joan. I was very proud of Mr Pink and his brother, of his dad, and of the mini pinks who all did so very well throughout the whole ceremony. I know Joan would have been proud too. If nothing else she would have said how smart the boys looked in their suits, and how grown up the mini were at sitting still and listening quietly.
She wanted flowers, lots of them she said, and so that is what she had, and they looked so beautiful. All with thought and heartfelt messages on them.
Most of all Joan would have loved seeing all her friends and family gathered in one place, sharing a buffet together, and a cup of tea. Laughing together and remembering.
I have learnt so much about Joan over the past few weeks, about her life before I joined the family. And as the eulogy said, if either of her grandchildren or their children have as much determination and drive as she did, then they will do well.
Thank you Joan. Goodbye.

"Dear Joan, Thankyou. Thankyou for welcoming me into your family, Thankyou for all the love and support and kindness, Thankyou for being a fabulous and fun nana to our children, and for giving them happy memories to remember you by. Thankyou for raising my husband to be the man he is; I will take care of him. Thankyou for the muffins, the apple pie (cooked or not), the hand knitted cardies, and the hours of babysitting and drinking pretend cups of tea. Thankyou Joan, for being you, I'm proud that you were my mum-in-law. Xx"
