Noise, Power and Aviation Fuel
The May bank holiday weekend can mean only one thing the biannual cold war jet day at Bruntingthorpe airfield in Leicestershire. There is nowhere else in the world that you can get so close to these awesome beasts of another age being fired up to full power. The noise, kick in the chest and the smell make your heart race. Its also a perfect opportunity to snap the machines and the aging men who have the skill to handle them. I took so many that one or two were not enough Hence the extra shots. 4 are of the English Electric Lightning and its pilot with the other extra of a Canberra starting up using a cartridge fire to turn the engine.
An epic day. The next is on the Sunday of the August bank holiday. who knows I might see you there.
