The Holme

This mansion is 'The Holme' in Cliviger, midway between Todmorden and Burnley and is a Grade II* building.
It dates from the 17th century with 18th and 19th century alterations. 
Some friends of ours lived in it during the 1960s and 70s as a private residence.
It became a residential nursing home between 1985 and 2002.  After it closed a serious fire (suspected arson) in April 2003 destroyed much of the interior and it remained derelict until 2013 when it was sold at auction and work began to convert it into apartments.
In my opinion they have done a really good job.

(Our friends were quite adamant that it had a resident ghost who was obsessed with tidiness, and used to put clothes away in drawers and wardrobes - I wonder what it has thought of the recent events).
