Oh, Sunny Day!

She worships the sun like no other, following his form across the sky every day, only nodding off when he disappears at night.  Another ancient creature and a member of the same family as artichokes, among others.  In fact, the Asteraceae family is one of the largest collections of plant species that exists today.  Something else I learned in researching my sunflower's genealogy is that "daisy"  comes from the Old English term "day's eye," referring to the daisy flower opening its petals during the day and closing them at night.
