Friend!

Yesterday at this time ( 5:30 PM) I had just heard in the previous 24 hours, of 5 different people canceling trips to our island next week. 3 of the book club and 2 couples who were planning on the next weekend. ( sick, sister had a heart attack, can't come alone, father in CA about to die, bad back can't sit in the car that long. And those are only the ones planning to come in a few days!) So when my good friend N, from Indiana -the only real reason I am in Seattle this week, phoned yesterday I expected some other dire catastrophe. But NO! She's healthy and she's here!!!! And she drove here from a town north of here where she and her husband are attending a grandchild high school graduation tomorrow. But today and tonight and tomorrow morning it's non stop talking talking. So great to see her..We met in college at the U of Michigan in 1959 and had an apartment in Chicago after graduation before going our separate ways. She is a writer and we have corroborated on several artist books with her writing and my book. .. So of course we went to see the exhibition of artists books at the UW today ... Will try to add the link later to "Just one look". And a trip to the Henry Gallery to see some art and sit in the lovely quiet of James Turrell's sky space ( here).
