Top of the Rock
So today we are in Gibraltar, UK.
After a leisurely breakfast we took a stroll through town towards the cable car to get to the Top of the Rock.
There were tons of people in uniform and all the flags were at half mast so we are guessing that somebody local had died. Maybe we will find out on our way back?
The views from the top of the cable car ride are fabulous even if it is a bit hazy. And of course there are plenty of Barbary macaques to keep us tourists amused. Here is one of them sunning himself by the railings in front of the "Rock" itself. Although it's not the best shot, it just seemed appropriate to post it as this is what most people associate with Gibraltar.
One of the most interesting things we've been told about Gibraltar, is that there is a public road running across the runway at the airport that they close (just like at a level crossing for trains) when a plane is due to land!
Not sure how true this is, but it's a good story :)
Off now to avoid the fish and chip shops on the way back, of which there are many!!! Seems to be a bit of a touristy thing to do - but not for us!!
