Rainbow Lorikeets in Town

I was walking through a tiny park near the centre of town (Maleny, Queensland, Australia) when a flash of colour caught my eye. Two Rainbow Lorikeets (members of the parrot family) whizzed past me and up into the highest branches of an ancient, huge old tree. I waited a while, hoping they would come a bit lower but in the end they had more patience than me.

I needed full zoom to get this shot; it's not the sharpest for that reason though the intensity of their colouring comes through. Their wings and backs are emerald green. A feast of colour!
