Her Joy . . .

This month would have been my mother's 86th birthday and looking at this flat cactus reminds me of the garden she loved so much. In her last years when getting out into the garden was tricky this was one of the potted plants placed just outside her French window. Its warm colours and outward reach carry with it a message of hope & sharing, virtues that were very much a part of mum's character.

PS: re the pronunciation challenge , the name 'Featherstoneshaugh' is traditionally pronounced  'fan-shaw. I am fascinated by these linguistic curiosities!
