Lying in wait
This Crab spider who sometimes changes colour to match its background is lying in wait to ambush its prey. It does not wait quietly for unsuspecting insects to fly into its web but pounces on them.
This made me think of the poor woman who was killed in the landslide in Beaminster Tunnel recently, her house has now been burgled and all her valuables taken.
There has been another landslide at the cliffs near Burton Bradstock Beach and Freshwater Bay, not far from Beaminster Tunnel, and another young woman killed under 400 tonnes of rock cascading down from the cliff face. The rest of her family managed to escape, some by wading into the sea. The beaches have now been closed along that part of the Jurassic Coast.
But on the brighter side, this glorious weather means N and T can now start summer farming! They have cut grass, turned it in the sun and have made a start with the baling. Lunchtime picnics in the hay fields are the order of the day.
