Raspberries under control

Last year the raspberries were not under control as I didn't have time to build the restraints so they flopped all over everything else. This year it'll be different (hopefully) as they should grow constrained between the wires both in the foreground and in the background against the fence.

It was not easy to find the vine-eye bolts required to tension the wire but I found them online at Screwfix but in the end got them from a little hardware store on the way to Screwfix. No matter what you do at the allotment you always come away with jobs uncompleted. I planted some courgettes and more lettuce and supported the broadbeans but didn't get around to cutting the grass or hoeing over or planting out the butternut and winder squash.

In the afternoon we booked a week away in the Lakes with Doreen in early September staying at what is called a "cottage" at Underskiddaw. Then I went to the gym for a couple of hours by which time it was time for the traditional Friday night supper of omlette and salad and a glass of beer.
