Greet a new priest ...

Despite being at more services than most Scottish Episcopalians over the past 42 years I've never before today attended the service of ordination of a priest. This is the moment at which the newly-ordained priest - in this case our curate, shared with the church on Bute where the service took place - turned, chalice and bible in her hands, to face the welcome of the congregation that filled the tiny building.

Quite a thing, to become a priest. Quite a step after a lifetime in other work. That moment of recognition - of vocation, of commitment, of God. A new ministry is confirmed. Our prayers go with her on her journey.
