Gravely disappointed
At this time of year I like to treat myself to a prowl around one or more of the island's kirkyards. A minimal maintenance policy makes them a haven for wildlife and they are normally a riot of bluebells and primroses at this time. Lady Kirk in particular is stunningly carpeted with mosses and Saxifrage/London Pride around now.
Not so this year. I walked along with my camera to find that the kirkyard has already been mown. There was little to photograph.
This Saxifrage has escaped into the verge on the road outside, where it is flourishing alongside some Speedwell.
A few nooks and crannies harbour bluebells that the mower could not reach (extra) and the fuchsia bushes are coming along nicely, though not yet in flower.
