Here there and everywhere

Mena House Hotel

On a whim, late afternoon, we decided to come to Mena House Hotel. We were last here for Bb's birthday in February 2015, last year. We aren't staying over this time, but it's still very special to be here, sipping a glass of white wine with this iconic view. I'm always amazed that The Pyramids are so close. Tonight it took us a bit longer as it was rush hour, but on a good day it's just a 30' taxi ride from the flat here.

The Muslim world right now is holding its breath to hear when Ramadan starts - it might be tomorrow, which means that from 3am tomorrow no food or liquid can be consumed for around 16 hours till sunset. Not even a sip of water. This rhythm continues for a month. The temperature at the moment is mid 40s and rising by the day. Our driver who brought us here today says it's more difficult for him to go without a cigarette!
