Beachy Head

On this pretty perfect summer's day we spent the morning in Eastbourne then went on to Beachy Head, which was packed with people strolling along the cliff edge.

It was glorious and full of happy people but I couldn't help noticing a small cluster of crosses, placed near the edge, with names of those that had decided to end it all and jump to their death. Apparently it's such a common occurrence they have a couple of chaplains going up and down trying to spot someone who looks vulnerable and tempted. They were there today. I hope no one was tempted today.
