HELLO GOODBYE SKYE

Perhaps another time we will linger longer. It would be nice rather than driving straight though, Hi Cullins! The photo is from the ferry terminal at Uig.

We set off from home just gone 6am for the ferry from Uig, Skye to Tarbert on Harris. But on the way the Icterine Warbler was seen at Laggan so there was a swift recalculation of miles/diesel/ferry times. It was decreed (as I knew it would be) that we had plenty of time to see the Warbler. As it turned out we did, as the ferry was over half an hour late coming in from Harris to pick us up, and the Icterine Warbler was a cracker, and a Lifer. Such a song; and so loud. It could imitate umpteen birds at will and at staccato speed. So (as we didn't miss the ferry) it was a well worthy detour.

But with the ferry late (thankfully there were fish and chips on board) it was a swift empty of the car boot, a swift beer, and then swiftly to bed.

Snore. Well, it would have been but for the cuckoo which kept cuckooing until after midnight.

Who'd be a birdwatcher, huh? Or married to one.
