for another female to appear! This Four Spotted Chaser was the dominant male at the lochan, where the Chasers were in a mating and laying frenzy! He would grab a passing female, mate and chuck her down to lay while he went for the next and repeated the whole process. In five minutes he had mated with at least seven females. He was quite a bully and chased off any other males, any Large Red Damselflies and one poor male White Faced Darter.This is standard behaviour on a sunny morning. They spend the afternoon resting!
Saw the first Common Blue Damselflies so it is in the extra.
Very hot and sunny all day.
