Simplicity

My desk is the exact opposite of this serene scene. In between chipping away at the papers and piles there, I'm grateful for an interlude in the garden to photograph the simple beauty of these recently-formed Columbine (Aquilegia) seed heads.

I usually cut the seed heads off to encourage a second round of flowers, but I'll let these dry out and turn brown, and save the seeds for next year. Reliable, no-fuss perennials like these are my favorites!
