Pitch and Putt- Ladies welcome
Were we to live in a country where the weather was always sunny and warm, there would be no need for me to mention it on a daily basis; it is only when we get an unaccustomed run of high pressure hovering over Scotland that it becomes noteworthy.
After a hot tramp over the Links to Bruntsfield and back, I am sitting, for maybe the 10th day in succession, outside under the sun umbrella, squinting into the screen of my tablet to write this. Rumour has it that there will be heavy rain by 2pm, so I am determined not to miss a second of sunshine.
Yesterday we had lunch with erstwhile neighbours in a flat straight out of Homes and Gardens. It is certainly the most wonderful home we have ever been in, airy and spacious with a dazzling display of artistic artefacts throughout. The outlook was over trees bordering the meandering Water of Leith with a resident heron standing stock still in the shadows- perfect.
The downside is that His Lordship and I now have a general dissatisfaction with the decor in our down sized flat. No doubt we will go through the motions of going back to the drawing board before running out of enthusiasm and reverting to type.
In the time taken to post this, the sky has turned gunmetal grey and I hear thunder in the wings. Ah well, the sunshine was nice while it lasted.
