Pink Lot

Came into Singapore yesterday for the 2016 Pinkdot rally. But it's just an excuse, really, for everything else planned for this trip.

Started the day with a stroll down Arab Street to an absolutely charming yoga paraphernalia store to buy myself a mat. A yoga instructor friend recommended the store when I asked her about a brand called Manduka. Really pricey brand but seems very highly recommended. They didn't have any bright, sunny colours in the model I wanted so I settled for a green one. Wondering if the rubber surface would get damaged if I painted it butter yellow.

Lunch at a Turkish place after yoga mat shopping was not good. Lots of strolling around before lunch and before dinner, got my feet and ankle hurting and my stomach bloated. Highlight of the day: buying yoga mat and talking about mat colours and their psychological and emotional effects with the shop assistant. Really helpful and just as chatty as me which made me feel right at home. She's got her left ankle sprained and swollen too, so we're kindred injured yogis.

The Pinkdot rally was just ok, I suppose. Truth be told, my emotions were somewhere between not caring and detachment. Not my country, and I'm not a resident here, hence the progress here isn't going to make things better for the LGBTQ community back home. I did get excited as the music got more dance-ey, though, so that's good. Found it interesting that a number of large corporations sponsored the event. How lucky for those working there.
